The Irony of Illness
Illness knocked me off my feet this week. I've been the epitome of a couch potato for the past 48 hours.
In my lack of ability to function as a human as well as be productive, something simple yet profound was written on my heart.
Maybe sickness of our body is necessary to heal our soul.
Because it forces us to stop the productivity, to depend on the help of others, and to wait on healing.
And isn't this what a life in Christ looks like?
It's so easy to talk about being still, to claim dependence on Christ, but when it comes down to it, I'm so often a busy bee working unto my own glory, forgetting my own desperate need.
But sickness of our bodies may just be what we need to give our souls the rest they need. So that we may learn to depend on Jesus & His healing - not only over our bodies but most importantly over our souls.
So if you've been knocked off your feet, take heart! You're not alone.
