It's Okay to Cry
"I hate this. I get so frustrated. I don't like having surgeries. I just want to be normal." - Chris F.
Isn't that what we all want? Normalcy? Ease? A lighter burden?
This is my sweet friend Chris' soulscript, life story, and heart song.
He wakes up each morning and battles cerebral palsy. Today, he is in a hospital bed recovering from another major surgery on his legs. He often shares his deep frustrations that his daily life brings. And that's okay. It's good. I encourage it. It's ok to get angry sometimes. We're only human. But you know, through his struggles, he has developed such a compassionate heart. He still hugs tighter and smiles bigger than anybody I know. And it strikes me every time because he reflects the heart of one whose joy is not defined by circumstances.
So to those of you waking up to frustrations, emotional turmoil, or physical pain every day, this one is for you: it's okay to get frustrated. It's okay to cry. It's okay to roll your windows up and scream really loud. But don't stop believing in good. Choose to hug tighter and smile bigger. Keep waking up and facing the world every day, because this life and this pain is temporary. And though it may really wear you down, know that you are on my heart. And that you are loved.
So stinkin' loved.
